  1. Andrew Johnson was born the 29 of December 1808 and died the 31 of July 1875. He was the 17th President of the United States, serving from 1865 to 1869. The first American president to be impeached, he was acquitted in the Senate by one vote.

  2. 1) When Andrew Johnson was only three his father Jacob died and his mother sent him and his brother out as indentured servants to a tailor and Andrew escaped.
    2) Johnson never attended school at all.
    3) He became a Mayor at the Age of Twenty-Two

  3. *Andrew Johnson was the 16th Vice-President and 17th President of the United States. Before becoming Vice-President, he was a Governor and United State Senator from Tennessee.
    *He became president in 1865 after Abraham Lincoln was killed.
    *The United States purchased Alaska from Russia for $7.2 million while he was president.

  4. Sasha said that he was the first American president to be impeached. Well,Johnson began to veto many of the bills passed by Congress. He vetoed so many bills he became known as "The Veto President". Congress did not like this and felt that Johnson was abusing his powers. They wanted to get rid of him as president.
    Congress can remove the president by "impeachment". This is sort of like firing the president. The U.S. House of Representatives voted to impeach Johnson. However, the Senate decided in a trial that he could stay on as president.
